June Newsletter

Hello everyone!

Last time we sent out a post like this, we asked everyone to keep their fingers-crossed on relief from the rain. Some of you have done a very poor job helping out on that front. Please make sure to include in your thoughts that we'd like ANY weekend day to be warm and rain free. Here’s hoping that we have a wonderful June!

This post will cover...

The Day Trip: Postponed

In what has become a rather depressing trend, we've found it necessary to postpone the Day Trip. A little bit of rain is one thing out on the course, nearly two inches is quite another. We apologize to everyone that the tournament schedule has been so tough this year, we're just as frustrated about the weather as you are!

The makeup date for the tournament is Saturday, June 7th. We will keep the same shotgun start time of 8:00AM. Please get in touch with the Pro-Shop by phone or email (email preferred!) and let them know if you can play. We've already had some teams back out due to this change so there are slots available!

Spread the word, we'd love to have this event at capacity.

General Etiquette & Check-In Updates

There have been a few issues surrounding tee times that we feel need to be addressed. As everyone is no doubt aware, we have quite a few members and experience a fair amount of greens fee play. Fortunately for the game of golf, the days of pre-2020 are long-gone and that means some changes to how everything is done.

It's really important to check-in with the Pro-Shop when you arrive because there are often slight changes to the tee sheet or routing that you need to know before going out. If you don't have a tee time and are showing up to get out when a slot opens up, the Pro-Shop must be the one to authorize your group hopping into a tee slot. If you decide to play additional holes and did not have a tee time for them, please also stop into the Pro-Shop and check if this is okay.

The Pro-Shop, moving forward, will be providing players with a receipt at check-in listing everything that you have paid for. Please keep this handy as our greatly expanded starter/ranger staff will be using said receipt for some of the changes listed below while ensuring your round is on the correct pace and all players respect the course.

  1. Starters/Rangers may ask for your groups name/who the tee time was booked under.

  2. Starters/Rangers may ask for the receipt provided to you by the Pro-Shop.

    1. These receipts will only show cart charges if you are a member.

    2. Please don't throw away the receipt until you've concluded your round.

  3. If you are a member and have not already, PLEASE pick up your bag tag from the Pro-Shop and affix it to your bag in a visible location. This will help our starters/rangers learn who our members are and avoid unnecessary confusion.

The bottom-line, we've been dealing with a lot of non-members sneaking onto the course and we're making these changes to protect your interests as paying members. We view the starters/rangers as a great resource to make sure everyone gets what they have paid for!

Membership Applications: Closed

We have made the decision to close any further membership applications/sales. It is extremely important to us that all of our members have ample tee time availability and we feel that the course has achieved a perfect level of members for the year.

We apologize to anyone that was considering a membership purchase over the past week prior to this official announcement.

Past Tournament Results

If you missed our emails about prior tournament results, I am linking the results for the single tournament that took place in May.

Skins & Tournament Pre-Pay

We are trying to simplify and speed up the check-in process at CKCC. Please take note of the following items to help us get people checked-in on tournament days more quickly.

  1. Please have cash ready if you plan on playing the skins game.

    1. We can make change at the front desk; however, it slows down the line greatly.

    2. We cannot accept cards for this side competition.

  2. We ask that you please pay for the tournament prior to the day we actually play.

    1. Paying ahead of time means less stress and more time at the bar or driving range prior to playing.

    2. Rest-assured that we will fully refund any competitor that is unable to play on the day of the tournament!

Thank you for your cooperation on these two items. If you have any questions about them, please send the Pro-Shop and email or chat with Jane the next time you see her!

Instruction Opportunities

Denise Doyle June golf clinic schedule
Check out this poster for some of her upcoming clinics!

Denise has really been enjoying the "wonderful" weather of the past month. It must feel just like home! Despite the less than desirable conditions, Denise has been steaming along with more lessons and has greatly expanded her offerings.

Please give Denise a shot if you need help with any part of your game. Everyone that has received instruction from her last season and now have raved about the improvements they've seen! If you need any convincing, despite all this rain, she's had many people join her weekly clinics so far.

She offers more than just these clinics, you can check out her full offerings and private lesson rates by clicking here!

Score Posting Information

We’d like to thank everyone who has been working hard at posting their scores.

We’ve had some questions about establishing a handicap, so here’s a few things to know about how the GHIN handicap system works…

  1. You must post a total of 54 holes before your handicap is officially established.

  2. The 54 holes can be a combination of 9 and 18-hole scores.

  3. To get the most accurate handicap, GHIN likes to see 20 18-hole scores.

  4. For CKCC events, your handicap must also be what we consider, “Current.”

    1. Make sure that you post every legitimate round you play. This means playing by USGA rules.

    2. At minimum, you should be posting two 18-hole scores per month (or four 9-hole rounds). Ideally, you’re posting at least one 18-hole score per week (or two 9-hole rounds).

These are just general posting guidelines, bottom-line, just post your scores!

Hole-in-One Alert

We want to congratulate Sawyer Cudney for his Hole-in-One on Friday, May 30th on # 9 South. Yes, you read that right, # 9 South! What an absolutely excellent shot, Sawyer.

He will be the first plaque on the board for # 9 South. If there has been a hole-in-one there before, it was not made by a member!

He was NOT in the "insurance," folks!

Still Seeking Permanent Head Chef

We’re still on the hunt for a talented and passionate Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to join our team for the 2025 season and beyond! While we’re fortunate to have Elise leading our kitchen for the season, it’s only a temporary situation. We’re looking for someone to work alongside her, learn the ropes, and eventually take the helm of our restaurant operations.

This is a unique opportunity to bring your culinary expertise to Cedar Knoll, collaborate with a dedicated team, and create unforgettable dining experiences for our members and guests. If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and be part of a thriving community, we’d love to hear from you!

More information about this position and requirements can be found by clicking here!

That's all for the month of June. We hope to see everyone playing in the Day Trip next weekend!
